The estate
Kloster Eberbach is an illustrious German wine institution. A former Cistercian monastery located in the heart of the Rheingau wine region, Kloster Eberbach has been producing wine for almost nine centuries. As a member of the prestigious Verband Deustcher Prädikats (VDP), this estate is one of the largest and most prestigious wine producers in Germany.
The vineyard
The Riesling Erbacher Marcobrunn Trocken Grosses Gewächs by Kloster Eberbach is a Rheingau wine from the "Marckinborn" wine-growing area, which has been renowned for its quality since the 14th century. It is one of the oldest monastery vineyards and has been regarded as one of the best wines in the Rheingau since the 18th century. The name of this wine refers to a neoclassical fountain located between Hattenheim and Erbach.
The vines are planted on south-facing slopes on soils composed of clayey marl and limestone.
