Tasting
Appearance
A ruby-red hue of medium intensity and beautiful clarity characterises this wine.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with notes of fresh red fruits, such as raspberry and cherry. It is then enhanced by delicate herbaceous touches, along with earthy and mineral nuances reminiscent of the limestone terroir.
Palate
The palate offers a concentrated texture, supported by fine, perfectly integrated tannins. The balance is remarkable, combining taut acidity with restrained power. The finish stands out for its elegance and long aromatic persistence.
Food and wine pairings
This red wine pairs wonderfully with delicate white meats such as roast poultry or veal with mushrooms. It also complements oily fish such as salmon with beurre blanc, refined dishes featuring truffles or asparagus, as well as aged Burgundy cheeses such as Époisses.
Serving and cellaring
The Beaune 1er Cru "Clos des Ursules" Monopole Héritiers Louis Jadot 2024 has excellent ageing potential. It can be kept in the cellar and enjoyed until around 2039, a period during which its aromas will develop a beautiful tertiary complexity.
The authentic expression of an emblematic Beaune terroir
The estate
Officially founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, the Louis Jadot House is a true institution in Burgundy. Its history, however, began as early as 1826 with the acquisition of a first plot. Today, the estate belongs to the American Kopf family, who oversee a vast vineyard of around 220 to 230 hectares spread across the region's finest appellations. Led by Thomas Seiter and Thibault Gagey, this domaine stands out for its dual role as producer and négociant, its sustainable farming practices and the ownership of its own cooperage, ensuring wines of consistent quality.
The vineyard
This wine comes from a historic 1.26-hectare plot located in the heart of the Beaune appellation. Classified as a monopole, this terroir has belonged exclusively to the House since 1826. Formerly attached to the Couvent des Ursulines, this clos, enclosed by low stone walls, benefits from an ideal east-south-east exposure on the mid-slope. The vines flourish on marl-limestone and clay-limestone soils rich in coarse elements and red earth, providing optimal drainage and giving the wine its characteristic minerality.
The vintage
The 2024 vintage benefited from favourable contemporary weather conditions, allowing this harvest to continue the region's tradition of quality productions.
Winemaking and ageing
The grapes for the Beaune 1er Cru "Clos des Ursules" Monopole Héritiers Louis Jadot 2024 are hand-harvested into small crates to preserve the berries. After a short pre-fermentation maceration, fermentation begins naturally in open vats thanks to indigenous yeasts. The wine then undergoes a meticulous 18-month ageing in oak barrels, part of which are new, allowing for gentle extraction and perfect integration of the tannins.
