Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Givry Village 2023 by Louis Jadot
Tasting
Appearance
The wine displays a beautiful ruby red hue, bright and of medium to deep intensity.
Nose
The nose opens with an expressive bouquet of red and black fruits, blending cherry, raspberry and blackberry. Delicate spicy touches, along with subtle woody and vanilla notes, enrich this aromatic palette.
Palate
The attack is lively and fruity, giving way to a balanced and fresh palate. The texture proves fine and elegant, supported by supple tannins, before extending into a beautiful finish marked by the return of fruit and spice.
Food and wine pairings
This red wine pairs wonderfully with fine charcuterie, roasted poultry, or grilled white and red meats. It also matches perfectly with slow-cooked dishes, mushroom-based preparations, as well as soft cheeses such as Brie or Camembert.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate this vintage, it is recommended to serve it lightly chilled, at a temperature between 14 and 16°C. Decanting can be considered in its youth. This wine can be enjoyed now, but will continue to evolve favourably in the cellar until around 2030.
The fruity and elegant expression of a red wine from Givry
The estate
Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, the Louis Jadot House is a true institution in Burgundy. Located in the heart of Beaune, France, this historic estate shines internationally while maintaining a strong local anchorage. Today led by its president Pierre-Henry Gagey and associated with the Kopf family, the House cultivates a vast vineyard of 125 hectares. Renowned for its environmentally respectful approach and its philosophy of minimal intervention, it stands out with a level 3 High Environmental Value certification, thus offering wines that express the full purity of their terroirs.
The vineyard
Located in the Côte Chalonnaise region, south of the Côte d'Or, the Givry appellation lies on predominantly clay-limestone terroirs. This vineyard benefits from slightly higher altitudes and varied exposures, offering ideal conditions for the vines to flourish. The House applies demanding viticultural practices there, favouring mechanical soil work and banning synthetic products to preserve biodiversity and the health of the terroir.
Winemaking and aging
The House's philosophy is based on minimal intervention in the cellar to preserve the natural expression of the terroir. For this wine, vinifications are carried out in a classic way with controlled yeast fermentations. Maceration is closely monitored to extract colour and aromas without excess, ensuring delicate tannins. Aging then takes place in oak barrels, with a carefully measured proportion of new wood so as not to mask the purity of the fruit.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
