The Structure and Complexity of a Great Burgundy Red Wine
The Estate
Founded in 1859, the Maison Louis Jadot is an iconic institution in Burgundy. Its history began in 1826 with the acquisition of the Beaune Premier Cru "Clos des Ursules". Owner of prestigious plots, the Maison perpetuates a family know-how, offering enthusiasts the excellence of Burgundy wines.
Since 1992, Pierre-Henry Gagey led the estate before passing the baton to Thomas Seiter (formerly of Bouchard Père et Fils) in September 2022, while the General Management was entrusted to Thibault Gagey, his son.
The Vineyard
This Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru comes from a small plot of less than 0.3 hectares located in Chambolle-Musigny, benefiting from cracked brown soils associated with a marly vein, oriented east/southeast.
Vinification and Aging
After careful destemming, the grapes are vinified in open vats for about 4 weeks. The wine is then aged in oak barrels in the estate's cellars for 18 months.
Blend
100% Pinot Noir.
