Description
The creaminess and precision of a Burgundy Grand Cru red wine
The estate
Since 1859, the Maison Louis Jadot has been an essential reference in Burgundy. The family adventure began in 1826 with the acquisition of the Beaune Premier Cru "Clos des Ursules." Owner of prestigious vineyards, Louis Jadot perpetuates an ancestral know-how passed down from generation to generation, thus offering the best of Burgundy to great wine enthusiasts.
The management of the house, ensured by Pierre-Henry Gagey since 1992, is now entrusted to Thomas Seiter (formerly Bouchard Père et Fils) since September 2022, while Thibault Gagey holds the position of general manager.
The vineyard
Located south of the Clos de Vougeot, this Echezeaux Grand Cru comes from a vineyard benefiting from an east/southeast exposure and resting on limestone soils.
Vinification and aging
The grapes, carefully hand-sorted, are destemmed and then macerate in open vats (wood or stainless steel) for 3 to 4 weeks. During fermentation, two punch-downs are performed daily. Aging continues for about 18 months in oak barrels from the estate's cooperage, with one-third new barrels.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
