Description
A delicate and balanced Burgundy Grand Cru red wine
The estate
The Louis Jadot House, established since 1859, is a true reference in Burgundy. Its journey began with the acquisition of Beaune Premier Cru "Clos des Ursules" in 1826. Owner of prestigious vineyard plots, the Louis Jadot House perpetuates a know-how passed down from generation to generation, offering enthusiasts the best of Burgundy.
At the head of the Louis Jadot House since 1992, Pierre-Henry Gagey entrusted his position to Thomas Seiter (Bouchard Père et Fils) and the General Management to his son Thibault Gagey in September 2022.
The vineyard
This 2021 Grand Cru is an Echezeaux wine from a vineyard located south of Clos de Vougeot, facing east-southeast and resting on limestone soil.
The vintage
2021 is a year marked in Burgundy by a massive frost in early April and unstable weather conditions. Despite a lower harvest than usual, quality shines through with floral and balanced white wines as well as bright, full-bodied, and aromatic red wines.
Vinification and aging
The grapes are carefully hand-sorted and then destemmed. Maceration takes place in open wooden or stainless steel vats for 3 to 4 weeks. The vats are punched down twice a day during fermentation. The aging lasts about 18 months in the estate's cooperage barrels, of which approximately 1/3 are new.
Grape variety
Pinot Noir (100%)
