Description
A balanced and aromatic Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru wine
The estate
The Maison Louis Jadot, established in 1859, is a real benchmark in Burgundy. Its adventure began with the acquisition of the Beaune Premier Cru "Clos des Ursules" in 1826. Owning prestigious plots of vines, the House passes on its savoir-faire to generation after generation to offer wine lovers the best of Burgundy.
Head of Maison Louis Jadot since 1992, Pierre-Henry Gagey entrusted his position to Thomas Seiter (Bouchard Père et Fils) and the rôle of General Manager to his son Thibault Gagey in September 2022.
The vineyard
The premier cru "La Garenne" du Domaine Louis Jadot 2021 is a wine from Puligny-Montrachet, an appellation to the south of Meursault and north of Chassagne-Montrachet. Puligny-Montrachet Premier Crus are renowned for their exceptional quality. The "Clos de La Garenne" is located close to "Folatières" and "Referts." The soil is limestone, of a medium density.
The vintage
2021 was a year marked by severe frost in April and unstable weather conditions in Burgundy. Despite a smaller harvest than usual, the quality shone through, with floral and balanced white wines as well as bright, full-bodied and aromatic red wines.
Winemaking and ageing
Harvested by hand, the grapes were gently pressed before fermentation in oak casks (of which a third were new) from the Louis Jadot estate’s own cooperage. Ageing over about 15 months on fine lees.
Blend
Chardonnay (100%).
