The estate
Founded in 1797 by the Latour family, this Burgundian estate has remained independent and family-run for over two centuries. Historically based in Aloxe-Corton in the Côte de Beaune, Louis Latour is today the largest Grand Cru estate in the Côte d'Or. The estate is still managed by the Latour family, perpetuating the tradition of passing down the first name Louis from generation to generation, illustrating an ancestral expertise combining cooperage and exceptional Burgundian viticulture.
The vineyard
This Echézeaux comes from a superb parcel located above the Clos Vougeot, between Vosne-Romanée and Vougeot in the Côte de Nuits. Formerly owned by the Abbaye de Cîteaux, this terroir features diversified and complex soils composed of clay, limestone, and gravel, with east-facing exposure. The vines, averaging 40 years old, yield a controlled 35 hectoliters per hectare and are hand-harvested to preserve grape quality.
Winemaking and aging
Traditional winemaking takes place in open vats with full malolactic fermentation. Aging occurs over 10 to 12 months in 100% new French oak barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage with medium toast, imparting the wine its harmonious structure and great aging potential.
Grape variety
100% pinot noir
