The Estate
Founded in 1797 by the Latour family, this Burgundian estate has remained independent and family-run for over two centuries. Historically based in Aloxe-Corton in the Côte de Beaune, Louis Latour now constitutes the largest Grands Crus domain in the Côte d'Or. The estate remains run by the Latour family, perpetuating the tradition of passing on the name Louis from generation to generation, reflecting an ancestral expertise that combines cooperage and exceptional Burgundian viticulture.
The Vineyard
This Echézeaux comes from a superb plot located above Clos Vougeot, between Vosne-Romanée and Vougeot in the Côte de Nuits. Formerly owned by the Abbaye de Cîteaux, this terroir features diverse and complex soils composed of clay, limestone and gravel, with an east-facing exposure. The vines, averaging 40 years old, produce a controlled yield of 35 hectoliters per hectare, hand-harvested to preserve the quality of the grapes.
Winemaking and Aging
Traditional winemaking takes place in open vats with complete malolactic fermentation. Aging takes place over 10 to 12 months in 100% new French oak barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage with medium toast, giving the wine its harmonious structure and great aging potential.
