The Elegance and Minerality of a Meursault Premier Cru

The Estate

Formally founded in 1797, the House of Louis Latour is a historic figure of Burgundy. Still independent and family-owned, it is now run by Florent Latour, alongside Eléonore Latour, representing the twelfth generation. The estate oversees a vineyard of 48 to 50 hectares, including the largest area of Grand Cru-classified plots in the region. ISO 14001 certified for its sustainable practices, the estate also stands out for mastering its own cooperage, thus perpetuating age-old expertise.

The Vineyard

This wine comes from Château de Blagny, a climat exploited as a monopole by the estate. Situated high on the slopes overlooking Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, the vines, averaging 30 years of age, thrive on soils composed of stony marl and Jurassic limestone. Yields are kept to around 40 hectolitres per hectare, and the harvest is carried out by hand.

Winemaking and Aging

After direct pressing, the grapes for this Meursault 1er Cru "Blagny" Château de Blagny 2024 begin fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The must is then transferred into French oak barrels, made by the house's own cooperage with a medium toast, to complete fermentation and undergo full malolactic fermentation. Ageing continues in these same barrels, 35% of which are new, for a period of 8 to 10 months.
