The Estate
Founded in 1797 by Jean Latour in Beaune, the Louis Latour estate remains an independent family-owned house run by the eleventh generation in Burgundy. Former coopers turned winemakers, the Latour family owns the largest Grands Crus estate in the Côte d'Or. Pioneers of modern winemaking techniques, they combine innovation and tradition, preserving historic cellars and centuries-old vines.
The Vineyard
The "Les Beaux Monts" climat of Vosne-Romanée benefits from an exceptional terroir composed of iron-rich clay, particularly conducive to the expression of pinot noir. The vines, aged 30 years on average, yield a controlled 38 hectoliters per hectare, ensuring concentration and quality.
Vinification and Aging
The grapes are vinified using the traditional open-top vat method with complete malolactic fermentation. Aging takes place over 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage, 40% of which are new wood with medium toast.
Grape Variety
This wine is made exclusively from pinot noir, the emblematic grape variety of Burgundy.
