The estate
Founded in 1797 by Jean Latour in Aloxe-Corton, the Maison Louis Latour has upheld a Burgundian family legacy for over two centuries. As heir to a cooperage tradition dating back to 1731, this independent house possesses the largest estate of Grands Crus in the Côte d'Or. Run by the heirs of Louis Latour, it combines viticultural know-how and cooperage mastery on its prestigious plots.
The vineyard
The "Les Suchots" climat lies within the Vosne-Romanée appellation, at the heart of the Côte de Nuits. The pinot noir vines, averaging 30 years of age, root in a ferruginous limestone subsoil. Hand harvesting ensures exceptional grapes with a controlled yield of 38 hectoliters per hectare.
Winemaking and aging
Winemaking is carried out traditionally in open vats, followed by complete malolactic fermentation. Aging takes place over 10 to 12 months in medium-toast French oak barrels, 40 % of which are new wood, from the Louis Latour cooperage.
Grape variety
This wine is made exclusively from pinot noir, the emblematic grape variety of Burgundy's great red wines.
