A Californian white wine combining power and refinement
The estate
Founded in 2006 by French-American couple Luc and Jodie Morlet, Morlet Family Vineyards showcases the prestigious terroirs of Sonoma County and Napa Valley. Heir to a Champagne winegrowing lineage spanning five generations, Luc Morlet, who graduated in oenology in Reims, honed his expertise at Château Dauzac in Margaux before settling in California alongside Jodie. Together, they first created vineyards dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc before expanding their range to other grape varieties such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Acclaimed by the most renowned critics, the estate's wines enjoy unanimous recognition.
The vineyard
"La Proportion Dorée" is an exceptional cuvée from vineyards cultivated in Sonoma County. The soils, ranging from silty to gravelly, allow the deep roots of Sémillon to contribute to the wine's texture and depth.
Winemaking and aging
The harvest is carried out manually between September and October, with bunch-by-bunch sorting. The grapes are transported in small crates in a refrigerated truck. The fermentation of La Proportion Dorée 2020 takes place in barrels with indigenous yeasts. The 10-month aging occurs in French oak barrels from selected artisan coopers. The wine rests on lees with regular bâtonnage. Bottling is carried out without fining, with light filtration to prevent malolactic fermentation.
Blend
Sémillon (69%)
Sauvignon Blanc (30%)
Muscadelle (1%).
