Description
The fruity intensity of a great Tempranillo from Rioja
The Torre Muga 2014 is a prestigious wine from the celebrated Muga Bodega, which is located in the heart of the Rioja Alta sub-region in northern Spain. The vintage expresses all the typicity of the greatest terroirs of the sub-region that is bathed in a Mediterranean climate with Atlantic influences.
The Torre Muga 2014 from the Muga Bodega is produced in the Rioja DOCa appellation and consists of a blend of Tempranillo (75%), Mazuelo (15%) and Graciano (10%). It is from vineyards planted on clay-limestone and alluvial soil, which give the wine its unique character. The wine is elaborated at the estate’s winery in Haro.
At tasting, the Torre Muga 2014 form Bodega Muga offers an intensely pigmented colour with purple highlights. The expressive aromatic bouquet reveals ripe blackberry and fresh black pepper that evolve into mineral graphite notes and smoky scents. The smokiness testifies to the subtle ageing in French oak barrels. With aeration, menthol and rosemary fragrances bring a radiant freshness to the bouquet’s aromatic opulence. On the palate, the Torre Muga 2014 displays all the strength of its personality through offering an ample and generous mouthfeel. The elegant tannins are enhanced with vibrant acidity and the energy from peppery liquorice notes. The mouthfeel stretches into an elegant, pleasant and persistent finish.
