An Australian white wine with a rich and complex aromatic palette
The estate
The prestigious magazine, Wine Enthusiast, honoured Penfolds as their 2013 New World Winery of the Year, the Penfolds estate had already established itself as an icon of fine Australian wines at the beginning of the 20th century, thanks to Mary Penfold’s unparalleled determination. Indeed, the co-founder of the Penfolds estate put her heart and soul into making exceptional wines. Her lifelong work is reflected in the estate's success in establishing itself as a benchmark in Southern Australia. When Max Schubert became part of the Penfolds' story in the 1950s, he instilled the elegance of fine Bordeaux wines, that fascinated him greatly, into the estate's wines. Success shortly followed when the cellar master produced his famous Grange wines, which crossed Australian borders in order to win the hearts of wine lovers from all around the world. Today, the talented Peter Gago has taken over this role.
The vineyard
Penfolds' Bin 311 Chardonnay 2020 comes from several regions in South Australia: Tasmania, Piccadilly and Henty. This diversity enriches the wines and provides an insight into a wide range of Australia’s finest wine regions.
The wine
Penfolds Bin 311 Chardonnay stemmed from the continuous search for high quality grapes that would produce exceptional wines. As the vintages change, this wine has evolved to cooler regions.
The vinification and ageing
Following the harvest and the fermentation process, the wine is aged for 8 months in French oak barrels (41% of which are new).

Penfolds Bin 311 Chardonnay 2020 is a 100% Chardonnay.
The tasting
Colour
This wine is a pale straw colour with lime green highlights.
Nose
Complex and elegant, the nose reveals a rich aromatic palette. Fruity and floral fragrances mingle with notes of citrus fruit, roasted cashew nuts and almonds as well as subtle hints of flint, wet stone and sea spray.
Palate
Elegant and airy, this wine will charm you with its intense fruity expression (white peach, nectarine), its persistence and its minerality.
Storage
This Bin 311 Chardonnay 2020 by Penfolds can be kept until 2028, which will enable it to express its full aromatic range.
