St Henri from Penfolds is a red wine produced in Australia on various vineyards and appellations (McLaren Vale, Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Padthaway, Port Lincoln). St Henri 2013 comes from a blend of 96% Shiraz and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is aged for 12 months in large oak vats, which are over 50 years old.

With its magenta colour and shades of purple, the St Henri 2013 from Penfolds develops a fruity nose with notes of black beans, star anise, dried herbs and sweet spices (cinnamon, thyme). Upon aeration, fragrances of salted beef with the freshness of a carpaccio reveal themselves in the glass, along with subtle notes of capers, vinegar and brine. On the palate, this very ample wine offers flavours of beetroot, game and the blackened crust of a roast. Then come tasty touches of blackberries and black fruit compote providing plenty of generosity and sweetness to this wine. Silky tannins and delicate acidity result in a very well-integrated wine.
