The estate
Founded in the 13th century by the Order of the Templars and then passed to the Order of Malta, Domaine Peyrassol has become an essential hallmark of Provence’s great rosés. In 2001, Philippe Austruy acquired it and committed to highlighting this historic heritage. As early as 2002, he initiated a major modernization, restructuring the vineyard and reequipping the facilities to fully valorize the terroir’s potential.
The vineyard
The Cuvée des Commandeurs comes from vines rooted in varied soils, ranging from clay-limestone to schist depending on the plots. This geological diversity imparts complexity and typicity to this wine from Côtes de Provence.
The vintage
The winter of 2024, cold and wet, allowed the vines to build excellent water reserves. After a spring disturbed by a cold snap, the summer was warm but not excessive, promoting regular ripening of the grapes. Harvesting began in late August under intense sunshine, producing concentrated juices balanced by fine acidity. September rains revitalized the vines, bringing freshness and aromatic complexity. This vintage looks promising, with cuvées that are both elegant and expressive.
Vinification and aging
A gentle pneumatic pressing is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Aging on fine lees in the same tanks preserves all the wine’s freshness and aromatic richness.
Blend
Grenache (50%), Cinsault (35%) and Syrah (15%).
