The estate
Located in Meursault, in the heart of Burgundy, Domaine Pierre Girardin was founded in 2016 by Pierre-Vincent Girardin. Representing the thirteenth generation of a winemaking family, he is the current owner and manager of this estate, which now spans 13 hectares. Drawing on a prestigious family heritage, Pierre-Vincent stands out for his approach combining tradition and advanced expertise. The estate is renowned for its low-intervention philosophy, its ecologically certified winery, and its ambition to craft pure and precise wines that faithfully express the greatness of the Côte de Beaune terroirs.

The vineyard
The Chassagne-Montrachet vineyard, located in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune in France, is built on a great diversity of micro-terroirs. The soils are mainly composed of limestone marls, brown limestones, and slope colluvium, offering a noble structure blending clay and limestone. The estate practices precision viticulture, oriented towards biodynamics, without the use of herbicides or insecticides. Since 2019, the trellising height has been raised to encourage a larger leaf surface and optimise photosynthesis. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand, followed by rigorous sorting.

Vinification and ageing
For this Chassagne-Montrachet Village 2024, the vinification is marked by meticulous management of oxidation. The grapes undergo an extended pressing of around three hours in order to extract a juice rich in substance and texture. Ageing takes place 95% in 456-litre barrels, without lees stirring, for around one year before blending in vat. The estate favours cool fermentation temperatures. Finally, the wine is protected by high-density corks from Sardinia and a wax-coated capsule.
