Founded in 1729 by Dom Thierry Ruinart, the Ruinart champagne house has gone down in history as the oldest institution in the Champagne region. Just over thirty years later, the prestigious estate sent out its first rosé cuvées.
Sweetly described as "œil de perdrix" (eye of a partridge), these bottles already boasted a pretty, delicate pink colour with hints of copper. At the time, the company was exploring various ways of obtaining the characteristic pink colour of the cuvée. For example, red berries or elderberries were used to obtain the famous partridge eye colour. Little by little, this name disappeared and was replaced by the term "rozet", which is now spelt "rosé". Similarly, the Ruinart Rosé evolved from a maceration rosé into a sublime blended rosé. The house's chefs believe that only the art of blending, mastered to perfection, can achieve the ideal taste so sought after.
From then on, the prestige of the name was born. When the grandson of the founding monk bequeathed to his descendants his manual listing the Ruinart know-how, of which he alone held the secret, the House's rosé cuvée was described as "a precious wine offered by the House to its most connoisseur customers."
Enthusiasts from all over Europe flocked to taste this refined wine that delights all the senses. The elite, from leaders to the great aristocratic families of Europe, regularly bought Ruinart Rosé, a champagne that could boast of having conquered the hearts of countries such as Germany, Austria, Sweden, Italy, Switzerland and even the United Kingdom before the end of the 18th century.

This vision, which has always driven Ruinart, takes the form of precision winemaking, based around the delicate blending of white wines made from Chardonnay and red wines made from Pinot Noir, vinified in red. With Ruinart Rosé, the expression of chardonnay is, as always, the house's objective, and it makes a point of honour to sublimate this grape variety in its champagnes. As a result, 45% of the Chardonnay in this cuvée comes from exceptional terroirs such as those of the Montagne de Reims. The purity of this grape variety is perfectly balanced by the delicacy of the Pinot Noir.
The work on the grapes is extremely meticulous. The Pinot Noir is macerated briefly before being lightly extracted to bring out all its aromatic complexity and provide silky volume on the palate. The Chardonnay is also magnified by Ruinart's expertise, for whom this grape variety holds no secrets.
