Decanter

Exotic pineapple, mango, peach, lemon and floral grassy scents - a wild flower meadow. Excellent texture and zing with a plentiful sucrosity but balanced by vibrancy and cooling minerality. The acidity just lifts the palate making this so easy and enjoyable to drink. Forget about just the sweetness here, this is full of complexity, nuance and deliciousness. A wine you’ll want to reach to again and again. A bargain for the price. From the rainy and challenging 2024 vintage that required constant vigilance and extreme sorting during harvest. 34.5g/L residual sugar. 7.7g/L acidity. Ageing on fine less in wooden barrels made from the estate’s own oak.

The estate

With a winemaking heritage spanning over a millennium, Schloss Johannisberg stands as a benchmark for great German wines. Founded in the 12th century as a Benedictine monastery, the estate then went through a period of uncertainty linked to the country's political and economic upheavals. Paradoxically, these trials led Schloss Johannisberg to a true renaissance, even more brilliant and flourishing: all the parcels were replanted with Riesling, making the estate the first, and one of the most prestigious, enclosed vineyards dedicated to this grape variety in the world.

The vineyard

This Riesling Orangelack from Schloss Johannisberg is a Rheingau wine that precisely embodies the spirit of Kabinett, a category of German dry or off-dry wines, prized for their freshness, harmony, and low alcohol content.

Winemaking and aging

Hand-harvested, the grapes undergo rigorous sorting before vinification in stainless steel tanks. Aging takes place on fine lees in 1,200-liter barrels crafted from the estate's own oak.
