The Persistence and Richness of an Italian White Wine from the Marches

The Estate 

Founded in 1957 by Gino Umani Ronchi in Cupramontana in the Marches, the estate was acquired in 1968 by the Bianchi-Bernetti family. Today managed by Michele Bernetti alongside his father Massimo, Umani Ronchi cultivates 230 hectares across the Marches and the Abruzzes. A pioneer in export since 1973, the estate practices organic farming and was named "Winery of the Year 2024" by Gambero Rosso.

The Vineyard 

This Plenio Riserva is a Marches wine whose name is derived from the Latin term 'Plenum', evoking fullness. The vines, approximately 30 years old and planted near Cupramontana on the Verdicchio hills, thrive between 250 and 350 meters in altitude with an eastern exposure. The terroir is characterized by very deep Pliocene-Pleistocene clay-silt soils, offering moderate fertility particularly favorable to the expression of the eponymous grape variety.

Vinification and Aging 

Manual harvest takes place between late September and early. After gentle pressing and cold static settling, fermentation occurs 60% in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and 40% in 5,000-liter oak barrels. A partial malolactic fermentation involves 10 to 15% of the total volume. The wine then ages for 12 months on its lees, followed by an additional 6 months in bottle before release.
