Colour
Bright, the cherry red colour seduces with its intensity.
Nose
Fruity fragrances (blackberry, black cherry, raspberries), floral (violet) and spicy (white pepper, dill, nutmeg) harmoniously blend with delicious notes of tobacco.
Palate
A lively and juicy attack precedes a persistent palate, with chalky tannins and an elegant structure.
A great fresh and balanced Chilean wine from Central Valley
The property
The Chadwick family has perpetuated since 1870, the date of creation of Viña Errázuriz in the Aconcagua valley by Don Maximiano Errázuriz, the passion for the production of great Chilean wines.
Located in Puente Alto D.O. within the Maipo Valley, Viñedo Chadwick honours the memory of Don Alfonso Chadwick Errázuriz, father of Eduardo Chadwick. Passionate and visionary, Alfonso Chadwick Errázuriz created the first wine brokerage house in Chile in the early 1930s and acquired in 1942 nearly 300 hectares of fields and vineyards with the ambition to modernise the production of Chilean wines and to actively participate in the development of their reputation. Having taken over the management of Viña Errázuriz in 1983, Don Alfonso Chadwick Errázuriz is joined by his son, Eduardo who perpetuates, since the death of his father in 1993, the quest for excellence and the family passion for the production of great wines from Central Valley.
Don Alfonso Chadwick Errázuriz was also recognised as one of the best polo players in Chile's history. Passionate about this sport, he had his own polo field erected on the family property, two posts of which are still preserved on this land now a plot giving birth to exceptional wines in honour of Don Alfonso Chadwick Errázuriz.
The vineyard
Viñedo Chadwick watches over a 15-hectare vineyard of cabernet sauvignon planted in 1992, giving birth to great wines from Central Valley produced in limited quantities whose refinement, freshness and elegance are internationally recognised. In 2004 at the emblematic "Berlin Tasting", the Chadwick Vineyard 2000, the second vintage produced by the estate, was ranked first ahead of Italian Super Tuscans and Bordeaux First Great Growths. In May 2016, Viñedo Chadwick 2014 was rated 100/100 by critic James Suckling.
The vintage
A cool and dry year allowed slow maturation thanks to the refreshing winds of the Andes, preserving colour and acidity. The harvest was delayed by 7 to 10 days, with an extended harvest window. The grapes, harvested between March 20 and April 5, produced a wine with fresh fruit aromas, elegant tannins and excellent acidity, perfectly reflecting the privileged terroir of Puente Alto D.O.
Vinification and ageing
Ageing for 18 months in new French oak barrels (90%) and in vats (10%).
Blend
Cabernet sauvignon (96%)
Petit verdot (4%).
