Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for Y 2010 Château d'Yquem
Tasting
Appearance
The wine reveals a pale yellow hue with green highlights, a sign of great freshness and lovely youthfulness. The brilliance and clarity of the colour herald an elegant, precise wine.
Nose
The nose expresses notes of citrus fruits (lemon, lime) and white-fleshed fruits, accompanied by white flowers. A mineral, slightly saline dimension completes this bouquet, bringing tension and freshness to the whole.
Palate
On the palate, the wine captivates with its tension and vivacity, carried by a precise, almost incisive acidity. The citrus aromas and mineral touches extend into a good length, offering a profile that is both crisp and dynamic.
Food and Wine Pairing
This dry white wine from Bordeaux will pair beautifully with seafood, such as warm lobster with citrus fruits or scallop carpaccio. It also works very well with roast poultry or lightly spiced dishes, such as a mild chicken curry.
Serving and Cellaring
We recommend serving this Y 2010 at a temperature between 8 and 12 °C, in large white wine glasses that allow its aromas to express themselves fully. Gentle aeration in a decanter or in the glass can help to reveal its bouquet in full.

The Estate
The vineyard of Château d'Yquem has been documented since 1711, when the estate became the full property of Léon de Sauvage d'Yquem. Located in Sauternes, in the Gironde department, in the Bordeaux region, the estate covers 113 hectares. Since 1999, it has belonged to the LVMH group, with management entrusted to Pierre Lurton. Château d'Yquem is distinguished by its uncompromising quality standards, going so far as to forgo producing certain vintages deemed insufficient.
The Vineyard
Produced under the Bordeaux Blancs Secs appellation, this wine comes from a vineyard located in the commune of Sauternes, in the heart of a terroir made up of gravel at the surface and clay at depth. The estate's topography, with its gentle slopes and its highest point in the appellation, promotes good natural drainage. Nearly half of the estate's surface area remains in its natural state, with woodland, meadows and landscaped areas, contributing to the site's biodiversity. Vineyard management, entirely by hand, relies on severe pruning and the absence of chemical weedkillers.
The Vintage
The 2010 year in the Sauternes area was marked by a dry, hot summer, followed by a mild autumn. This combination allowed for a balanced growing cycle, promoting full ripening of the grapes while preserving good freshness.
Winemaking and Ageing
As with all the estate's wines, the production of Y 2010 relies on hand harvesting and precise work in the cellar. Fermentation takes place in barrels, with each one rigorously monitored by the château's in-house laboratory. Ageing then continues for several months, with regular rackings intended to refine the wine's structure.
Grape Varieties
This wine is made from a blend of Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc, the two emblematic grape varieties of the Château d'Yquem vineyard.
