Colour
The colour reveals a deep, dark ruby red, almost black, reflecting a beautiful concentration.

Nose
The bouquet reveals intense aromas of well-ripened red and black fruits, such as cherry, blackberry and blueberry. Floral notes of violet and dried rose intertwine with delicate spicy touches, all underscored by subtle woody and vanilla nuances.

Palate
The attack is soft and velvety, opening onto a rich and delicate texture. The tannins, fine and perfectly integrated, are balanced by a lovely savoury freshness. The finish is long and lingering, leaving a pleasant fruity and spicy memory.

Food and Wine Pairing

This gastronomic red wine pairs wonderfully with Mediterranean cuisine. It will beautifully complement truffle tagliatelle, mushroom risotto, braised meats, duck breast, or aged cheeses such as Asiago.

Serving and Cellaring

The Sito Moresco 2023 offers immediate tasting pleasure, but has the structure needed to age favourably in the cellar until around 2037.

The Estate

Founded in 1859 by Giovanni Gaja in Barbaresco, this family estate is a true icon of Piedmont in Italy. While the pursuit of quality began in the 1930s, it was the arrival of Angelo Gaja in 1961 that propelled the estate onto the world stage through major technical innovations. Today, the fifth generation, embodied by Gaia, Rossana and Giovanni Gaja, runs the estate. Deeply committed to climate resilience and biodiversity, the family continues to produce wines of excellence, brilliantly combining historical heritage with a resolutely modern vision.

The Vineyard

This wine from the Langhe DOC appellation comes mainly from the Pajorè cru in Treiso, complemented by vines located in Serralunga. The vines are rooted in marl soils rich in limestone. The estate favours a sustainable approach, promoting biodiversity and soil life through the use of tailor-made composts to strengthen the plants' resilience to climate challenges.

Winemaking and Ageing

To craft the Sito Moresco 2023, the grapes undergo fermentation with skin maceration to extract colour and tannins. This Italian wine is then aged in oak barrels for about a year, before undergoing additional bottle ageing to perfect its overall harmony.
