The Langhe Sperss from GAJA is a red wine produced in the Langhe appellation. The vineyard of Sperss is planted in the shape of an amphitheater on an area of 12 hectares. Aged 50 years on average, the vines - 94% Nebbiolo and 6% Barbera - are planted in clay-limestone marls. The Langhe Sperss 2000 from GAJA matures in barrels for 30 months.
At the tasting, GAJA’s Langhe Sperss 2000 develops deep, complex aromas of black cherries, tar, truffle, rhubarb and liquorice. On the palate, one detects quite an austere texture. The wine is full-bodied, dense and very complex, with excellent ageing potential.
