An Elegant and Complex Italian Red Wine
The estate
Founded in 1978 by Bruno Rocca, this family-owned estate in Piedmont now spans 15 hectares in the prestigious Barbaresco appellation, in the Province of Cuneo. Although the Rocca family has been mentioned in the region since 1834, it was Bruno’s decision—following the death of his father Francesco—to stop selling grapes and to vinify under his own name that marked the estate’s true creation. Today, Bruno runs the property alongside his children Luisa and Francesco, with the latter gradually taking on winemaking decisions. The estate stands out for its full organic certification, its 3.5 hectares in the legendary Rabajà cru and its minimalist winemaking philosophy that favors the expression of terroir.
The vineyard
The Barbaresco Currà Riserva comes from the prestigious Currà cru, located in the commune of Neive. This exceptional terroir is characterized by marl-limestone soils enriched with sand, giving the wine remarkable elegance and complexity. This distinctive geological composition allows Nebbiolo to fully express its aromatic potential and structural finesse.
The vintage
The 2015 vintage is considered excellent in Piedmont. The year was marked by a warm summer that encouraged perfect ripeness in the grapes, resulting in fruit of exceptional quality and optimal concentration.
Winemaking and aging
Winemaking for Barbaresco Currà Riserva 2015 begins with fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. The wine then undergoes extended aging in French oak barrels (barriques), in accordance with the requirements for the Riserva designation, allowing the wine to develop its complexity and refine its tannic structure.
