Description
A lively and balanced Saint-Emilion Grand Cru wine
The estate
Nestled at the heights of the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, Château Canon enjoys an exceptional location. Located on the right bank of Bordeaux, the superb estate takes its name from the famous sailor and corsair of the King, Jacques Kanon. It was in 1954 that Château Canon became a Premier Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion.
The vineyard
Château Canon is a Saint-Emilion wine that stems from a 20-hectare vineyard whose vines are 30 years old on average and planted on clay-limestone soils.
The blend
Merlot (74%)
Cabernet Franc (26%).
Château Canon 2016: Characteristics and tasting tips
The tasting
Nose
The nose reveals fruity (black cherries, ripe fruit), floral (violets) and empyreumatic (chocolate) fragrances as well as beautiful aromas of fresh figs and spices.
Palate
The silky and very fine tannins are creamy and persistent on the palate. The minerality of the Château Canon 2016 terroir reveals an utterly sophisticated, lively and well-blanced expression.
