Château Charmail reigns over an exceptional vineyard planted in clay-gravelly soils with 28.5 hectares of vines that extend until the river.
Vinification and ageing
Following the harvest, the grapes were selected by densimetry. About 10 days of cold pre-fermentation maceration (5 °C), extraction at 18 degrees maximum. Ageing lasted about 12 months in barrels of 500 litres (55% new oak) and in concrete eggs of 17 hectolitres.
Intense and beautifully deep, the wine displays a Burmese ruby colour, adorned with bluish nuances.
The nose combines notes of black fruits, fresh blackberries and blueberries with floral fragrances (violet) and liquorice.
The attack seduces with its softness and density. The palate is refreshing, marked by spicy notes that reveal a creamy and delicate touch. Persistent and generous, the finish presents fine tannins.
The Château Charmail 2020 can be aged in the cellar between 2023 and 2045, allowing it to express its full aromatic palette.
