The estate

Located in the north of the Médoc, on the hill of Saint-Estèphe, Château Cos d’Estournel stands majestically. Like a true Maharaja’s palace, the château and its pagodas surprise and captivate the eye. In 1791, Louis-Gaspard d’Estournel inherited hectares of vines and had the estate built. An adventurer who travelled the world, his taste for the exotic and the Orient gave Château Cos d’Estournel this architecture so unique in the Médoc. Owned by Michel Reybier since 2000, Château Cos d’Estournel continues to shine within the Saint-Estèphe appellation and joins the ranks of the world’s greatest wines, distinguished by its unique style in which a love of beauty and excellence remains a permanent quest.

The vineyard

A benchmark among the great wines of Saint-Estèphe, Château Cos d’Estournel enjoys an exceptional geographical location. Its vineyard lies on the edge of a plateau, in close proximity to the Gironde estuary. The vineyard thus benefits from a maritime climate while being protected from harsh weather. The vines are planted across two slopes and a central plateau, enjoying ideal sun exposure and good ventilation.

The gift box

The 10th Anniversary Limited Edition is a gift box unveiling 2 bottles of Château Cos d’Estournel along with a bottle of Pagodes de Cos 2016. After 8 years of ageing in bottle at the château, each of these bottles is released exclusively onto the market following their original en primeur release in 2017. This gift box, which is stackable for enthusiasts wishing to collect the Anniversary Limited Edition boxes, is crafted from pawlonia, an eco-friendly wood renowned for combining lightness with strength.

Château Cos d’Estournel 2016: this blend of cabernet sauvignon (76%), merlot (23%) and cabernet franc (1%) stands out for its delicate harmony and remarkable balance. Initially secretive and intriguing, it gradually opens up to reveal intense fruit and great depth. Its tannins, present yet perfectly integrated, support a fine, elegant palate that is already highly approachable. Its lingering finish also promises superb ageing potential.

Les Pagodes de Cos 2016: this second wine of Château Cos d’Estournel has been crafted since 1994 from vines around 40 years old. Made from a blend of cabernet sauvignon (50%), merlot (46.5%), petit verdot (3%) and cabernet franc (0.5%), this wine is aged in barrels, 30% of which are new oak. Velvety and silky, it reveals a lusciously fruity black-fruit nose and a precise, smooth and fresh palate. Its fine, complex tannins bring crunch, pleasure and elegance to this wine, now at its peak.
