Description
A structured and generous red wine from Pauillac
The estate
Château Croizet-Bages, a 5th Classified Growth of Pauillac, was founded in the 17th century. Bolstered by its prestige, the Château stood out during the universal exhibitions of the 19th century. In 1942, the estate was purchased by a merchant by the name of Paul Quié, whose family is still at the head of this prestigious property today.
The vineyard
This 27-hectare vineyard on the left bank of Bordeaux is situated on the Bages plateau. The vines, aged 35 years on average, are planted in deep gravel and gravelly sand soils.
The winemaking and ageing
Winemaking is carried out in 12 to 120hL stainless steel vats with the aim of optimising plot selection. Alcoholic fermentation is accompanied by daily pump-overs. Malolactic fermentation occurs in barrels and tanks. Ageing lasts 12 months in French oak barrels, of which 50% are new.
The blend
Château Croizet-Bages 2020 is made of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (63%), Merlot (34%) and Petit Verdot (3%).
The tasting
Generous and opulent, this Château Croizet-Bages 2020 seduces with its look, power, delicate tannins and aromatic richness, mixing notes of black fruits, spices and cedar.
