Description
The balance and expression of a Pauillac red wine
The estate
Château Croizet-Bages, a 5th classified growth of Pauillac, was founded in the 18th century. Bolstered by its prestige, the Château stood out during the universal exhibitions of the 19th century. In 1942, the estate was acquired by a merchant named Paul Quié, whose family is still at the helm of this prestigious estate.
The vineyard
Château Croizet-Bages 2021 is a Pauillac wine that stems from a 27-hectare vineyard. Located on the Bages plateau, the vines are 35 years old on average and are planted on soils composed of deep gravel and gravelly sand.
Vinification and ageing
Vinification is carried out in 12 to 120 hl stainless steel vats in order to optimise the parcel selection. Alcoholic fermentation is accompanied by 2 to 3 daily pump-overs. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in barrels and vats. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new.
The blend
Château Croizet-Bages 2021 comprises a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (66%), Merlot (33%) and Petit Verdot (1%). This blend includes 13% press wine.
