Description
The freshness and complexity of a red wine from Burgundy
The property
Owned by the Devillard Family for 3 generations, the Château de Chamirey entered the family's fold in 1932. The estate now oversees 37 hectares of vineyards, making it the largest estate in Mercurey. Erected on a rocky spur in the 18th century, Château de Chamirey enjoys a privileged location in the heart of the best terroirs of Mercurey in the Côte Chalonnaise. With a total of 6 premier crus, they are known for owning the famous plots of the Premier Cru "Clos des Ruelles" a red wine monopoly and that of the Premier Cru "La Mission" in white, exceptional terroirs that make the reputation of Château de Chamirey.
The vineyard
Owned by the Devillard family for three generations, this family estate cultivates 37 hectares of carefully planted vineyards on the most beautiful terroirs of the appellation: 27 hectares of reds, 10 hectares of whites, including 15 hectares classified as Premier Cru.
The vintage
The 2023 vintage in Burgundy stands out for its generous harvest and optimal maturity of the grapes, despite sometimes unstable weather. After a spring marked by a few episodes of frost, the summer, both hot and dry, was tempered by timely rainfall, thus providing ideal conditions for a homogeneous maturation of the harvest. The result is an exceptional vintage, marked by a remarkable harmony between fruit, freshness and structure. A promising balance that suggests a good aging potential.
Vinification and aging
The berries are harvested and sorted by hand, before being naturally vinified, this Mercurey wine is then aged in oak barrels.
Grape variety
Pinot noir (100%)
