The refinement and expression of a white Burgundy wine
The estate
The Château de Marsannay estate, located in the heart of the Côte-de-Nuits appellation, covers an area of 34 hectares. Stretching from the south of the city of Dijon to the village of Vosne-Romanée at altitudes ranging from 250 to 280 metres, the estate's terroir expresses, through its mosaic of plots, all the nuances and typicity of these great Burgundy climats.
The vineyard
One of the rare white wines of the Côte de Nuits, this Village-level Marsannay wine is made from a selection of grapes from 5 plots covering a total area of 2.6 hectares. With an east/south-east exposure on the mid-slope, this terroir lies on brown soil composed of limestone and marl.
Winemaking and ageing
The hand-harvested grapes are rigorously sorted on a table. The whole bunches are pneumatically pressed, followed by static settling and then alcoholic fermentation. The initial 10-month ageing in barrels (20% new) on full lees, with regular bâtonnage, is followed by a further 6 months of ageing in bulk.
Grape variety
Chardonnay (100%).
