The estate
In 1697, this property was sold to Simon Malescot, advisor to King Louis XIV. In 1827 the count of Saint-Exupery, great-grandfather of the famous aviator, bought it. The 300-year-old Third Classified Growth Château Malescot St Exupéry boasts one of the most beautiful terroirs of the Margaux appellation.
The vineyard
The Château Malescot St Exupéry vineyard covers 23 hectares in the heart of the Margaux appellation.
Vinification and ageing
Harvested manually in crates, the grapes are sorted in the vineyard and in the cellar. Carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel and cement vats, alcoholic fermentation lasted 8 to 12 days without the addition of yeast and was followed by ageing on fine lees for 12 to 14 months in barrels (70% new oak) with a stirring of the lees.
The blend
This Château Malescot St Exupéry 2020 was made from a blend of Merlot (49%), Cabernet Sauvignon (44%), Cabernet Franc (4%) and Petit Verdot (3%).
