Description
A Grand Cru from Margaux combining power and elegance
The Estate
Founded in 1585 by François d'Alesme, the Château Marquis d'Alesme became a wine estate in 1616. Classified as a Third Growth in 1855, it was acquired by the Perrodo family in 2006. The estate is distinguished by its ancient heritage and the Dutch influence of Jan Bekker Teerlink, who Germanized his name to Becker. Its location in the Médoc makes it a key player in the Bordeaux region.
The Vineyard
Covering 14 hectares in the Margaux appellation, the vineyard of Château Marquis d'Alesme benefits from an exceptional terroir composed of clayey and siliceous gravel soils. This diversity of soils contributes to the aromatic complexity of the wines. Since 2016, the estate has practiced organic viticulture, demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental preservation and the authentic expression of its terroir. The plantings consist of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot.
Winemaking and Ageing
Hand-harvested grapes followed by vinification in conical wooden vats and stainless steel tanks. The ageing lasts 14 months in oak barrels, 55% of which are new.
