Description
The estate
A Grand Cru of Saint-Emilion, Château Roylland takes its name from "La Lande du Roy,” meaning “Land of the King”. This property, founded at the time of Eleanor of Aquitaine, is close to some of the greatest estates of Saint-Émilion.
The vineyard
Managed with sustainable viticulture, the 5-hectare vineyard extends over the clay-loam and clay-sandy soils of Saint-Émilion.
The winemaking
Manual harvest in crates. Sorting in the vineyard, then before vatting. Vinification in thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks. Fermentation for 20 to 24 days.
The ageing
12 months ageing in French oak barrels. 50% new French oak.
Grape varieties planted
Merlot (80%), cabernet franc (20%).
