Description
Tasting Notes and Pairing Tips for Comte Armand's Bourgogne Aligoté 2024
Tasting
Appearance
The colour typically reveals a pale, light yellow hue, which can take on subtle golden highlights over time.
Nose
The nose opens with a bouquet of citrus fruit, green apple and white fruits, sometimes enriched with notes of mirabelle plum. As it evolves, delicate floral and dried herb nuances emerge.
Palate
On the palate, the wine stands out for its lovely vivacity and saline tension. The pronounced minerality is perfectly balanced by a dense texture drawn from old vines, leading to a long, mouth-watering and thirst-quenching finish.
Food and wine pairing
This white wine pairs beautifully with a platter of oysters, grilled fish or an asparagus risotto. It also goes very well with smoked trout, ceviche or delicate white meats.

The estate
Located in Pommard, in the heart of Burgundy, France, Domaine Comte Armand is a historic estate whose origins date back to 1828, when the family acquired the celebrated monopole of Clos des Épeneaux. Now run by Olivier Armand, this roughly nine-hectare estate is renowned for its excellence and its respect for living ecosystems. Certified organic and applying the principles of biodynamics, the estate crafts wines that combine power and finesse, true reflections of their exceptional terroirs.
The vineyard
This Burgundy wine comes from a mosaic of small plots totalling around 0.65 hectares, spread across three emblematic villages. In Meursault, century-old vines flourish on well-structured soils, while vines around twenty years old grow on the plain of Pommard, and a young vine is planted on the deep soils of Volnay. The entire vineyard is farmed according to the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture, with no herbicides used, fostering biodiversity and the pure expression of the terroir.
Winemaking and ageing
In keeping with the estate's style, the Bourgogne Aligoté 2024 is crafted with careful, minimal-intervention winemaking. The grapes are whole-bunch pressed to preserve the fruit's integrity. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, followed by complete malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged on the lees for 8 to 12 months, mainly in 500- to 600-litre barrels and vats, without bâtonnage, to preserve tension and aromatic precision.
