The authentic expression of a great Alsatian terroir
The estate
Officially founded in 1985 through the union of two old Alsatian winegrowing families, Domaine Barmès-Buecher stands as a major benchmark. Located in Wettolsheim, this eighteen-hectare estate is now run by Maxime Barmès, alongside his mother Geneviève Barmès and his sister Sophie Barmès-Blanquart. This family trio passionately upholds a demanding philosophy. Committed to a holistic approach, the estate showcases its terroirs through certified biodynamic viticulture practiced since the early 2000s, producing cuvées of remarkable sincerity.
The vineyard
This wine comes from the prestigious Grand Cru "Hengst", one of the seven exceptional terroirs cultivated by the family. Nestled on the foothills of the Vosges massif, this vineyard benefits from an ideal microclimate and natural protection that promote perfect grape ripening. Vine management follows strict biodynamic principles, banning all chemicals in favour of meticulous manual work. To preserve soil vitality, the estate encourages biodiversity through grass cover and has even reintroduced animal traction on the plots of this cru in Alsace.
Vinification and ageing
The crafting of the Pinot Noir Grand Cru "Hengst" 2024 is the natural continuation of the respectful work carried out in the vineyards. In the cellar, interventions gently accompany the wine, relying in particular on careful observation of the lunar calendar to set the rhythm of the essential stages, thereby preserving all the energy and purity of the fruit.
