Description
The minerality and expression of a sweet white wine from the Loire
The estate
A passionate winemaker, Ivan Massonnat took over the Pithon-Paillé estate, created by Jo Pithon, in 2018. Located in the Anjou region, Domaine Belargus watches over a 24-hectare vineyard that is managed exclusively using biodynamic methods. Made from meticulously selected Grands Crus, lieux-dits or monopoles, these Loire wines highlight the richness and minerality of the Chenin Blanc varietal.
The vineyard
Produced in the Coteaux-du-Layon Chaume AOC, Écharderie 1er Cru 2018 by Domaine Belargus is made from parcels surrounding the eponymous lieu-dit.
The blend
Chenin Blanc (100%).
Écharderie 1er Cru 2018 by Domaine Belargus: Characteristics and tasting tips
The tasting
This mellow white wine stems from a terroir that is made up of schist and powdery sandstone in the subsoil. This soil gives the wine a complex expression sustained by a beautiful minerality and leads to a lingering finish.
