A dry Loire white wine that enchants with liveliness and precision
The Estate
In 2018, Ivan Massonnat, a wine enthusiast and lover of the Loire terroir, took over the reins of domaine Pithon-Paillé, founded by Jo Pithon. Renamed Domaine Belargus, this Anjou vineyard now covers 24 hectares cultivated exclusively biodynamically. The estate’s philosophy is based on showcasing the terroirs through single-vineyard cuvées from carefully selected crus, lieux-dits or monopoles. Each wine pays homage to the pure expression of Chenin Blanc, the emblematic grape of the region.
The vineyard
The Ronceray cuvée comes from a Blend of parcels ideally located on the slopes of Quarts-de-Chaume, in the heart of Anjou. Covering a total area of 4.44 hectares, this vineyard benefits from an exceptional terroir. The name of the cuvée echoes the Abbey of Ronceray, which was once the recipient of the finest “quarts” of harvest delivered by the lords of Haute Guerche. This tradition gave its name to the famous Quarts-de-Chaume terroir.

This 2022 Ronceray from Domaine Belargus is made exclusively from Chenin Blanc.
