Description
A full and rich dry white wine from the Loire
The estate
A passionate winemaker, Ivan Massonnat took over the Pithon-Paillé estate, created by Jo Pithon, in 2018. Located in the Anjou region, Domaine Belargus watches over a 24-hectare vineyard that is managed exclusively using biodynamic practices. Made from a meticulous selection of Grands Crus, named vineyards or monopoles, these Loire wines highlight the richness and minerality of the Chenin blanc variety.
The vineyard
Domaine Belargus' Rouères 2020 stems from an almost 3-hectare vineyard, located on one of the three plots listed in the original decree that established the Quarts-de-Chaume appellation. Resting on the south-eastern slope of the Quarts-de-Chaume hilltop, this terroir is unique due to its nutrient-poor soil that rests on powdery sandstone, which collects heat during the day and releases it at night.
