Enormously deep and complex for a high-altitude, mountain red Burgundy. Wonderful nose of forest berries, stacks of soft tannins and an intensely mineral acidity on the barely medium-bodied palate. Astonishingly long and precise finish with a fabulous texture. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification grown in a vineyard at 421 meters above sea level in a red clay soil. Matured in 500-liter barrels. Unfiltered. Drink or hold.

60% whole bunch and aged in 500-litre oak. Cask sample. Mid cherry red. Gently stemmy, adding a herbal freshness to the fresh fruits. Peppery, lively. On the palate, dry, super-fine tannins add even more freshness to this mouth-watering wine. Long, too. The oak is hidden. A real beauty and great value. (JH)

La RVF

It offers a lovely bouquet between rosewood and kirsch. A wine structured by supple tannins and fruit with beautiful freshness. A silky wine with a fine aromatic evolution toward orange peel.

The balance and liveliness of a Hautes-Côtes de Beaune wine

The property

The history of the estate dates back to 1984, when Didier Montchovet, a winegrower's son from Nantoux, bought a 0.5 hectare plot. Passionate, he adopted biodynamic practices from the start, thus becoming the first estate certified by Demeter. His visionary commitment to respecting the terroir accompanied the gradual expansion of the estate. Boris Champy, former technical director of Louis Latour, took over the estate while respecting this same philosophy, bringing his expertise and enthusiasm. Today, the Domaine Boris Champy extends over 12 hectares, including plots on the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune and Pommard, emblematic Burgundy terroirs.

The vineyard

"Altitude 421" is a Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune wine from the "En Bignon" plot, the highest point between Paris and Marseille. The soil there is very clayey and red. The altitude of 421 meters helps to preserve the freshness of the grapes in order to produce fine and refined wines.

Vinification and ageing

After careful hand harvesting, the perfectly ripe grapes are brought to the cellar to begin the vinification process. A gentle extraction is carried out followed by destemming, then the wine ferments in wooden vats. Subsequently, the wine ages for 12 months in barrels, 15% of which are new.
