The Authentic Expression of a Great White Burgundy Wine
The Estate
Founded in the eleventh century, the Domaine du Château de Meursault is an emblematic figure of Burgundy, France. Taken over in 2012 by the Halley family and now managed by Olivier Halley, the estate spans more than sixty-five hectares in the Côte de Beaune. Combining a thousand-year-old heritage with innovative environmental practices, the estate stands out for its deep commitment to biodiversity and organic-certified viticulture, showcasing the complexity of its prestigious terroirs.
The Vineyard
This wine comes from a privileged plot of seven and a half hectares, ideally located at the heart of the estate's park in Burgundy. Benefiting from a due-east exposure that captures the first rays of sunlight, this terroir rests on gravelly clay-limestone soils that ensure excellent drainage. The entire vineyard is managed according to the principles of organic farming, fostering rich biodiversity through pioneering agroecological initiatives.
Winemaking and Aging
After a rigorous manual sorting to retain only the finest berries, the grapes are gently pressed. The clarified must then begins its alcoholic fermentation in barrels. The Bourgogne "Clos du Château" 2023 is aged on its lees for twelve months in oak barrels, 25% of which are new. During the first six months, regular lees stirring is carried out every two weeks, bringing additional complexity and aromatic richness to the wine.
Grape Variety
100% Chardonnay.
