The estate
Founded in the eleventh century, the Domaine du Château de Meursault stands as an emblematic institution of Burgundy. Spanning a vast vineyard of 67 hectares, the estate embodies an exceptional historical heritage. Since late 2012, the Halley family, under the leadership of Olivier Halley, has overseen the estate's operations, bringing a modern dynamic while preserving its heritage. Recently crowned best French estate at a prestigious international competition, this producer stands out for its deep commitment to sustainable viticulture and the precise expression of its terroirs.
The vineyard
The Savigny-Les-Beaune appellation is located in the northern part of the Côte de Beaune. This distinctive terroir takes the shape of a V-shaped valley, offering remarkable soil diversity, ranging from gravelly, iron-rich soils to clay-limestone and sandy plots. The estate cultivates its vines with the utmost respect for the environment, with the entire vineyard certified organic.
The vintage
The year 2023 stood out for its particularly favourable climatic conditions in France, allowing the grapes to reach optimal ripeness. This vintage produced remarkable concentration within the berries, driven by significant evaporation during the crucial ripening stages, resulting in beautifully balanced fruit.
Winemaking and aging
The making of the Savigny-Les-Beaune Village 2023 relies on a minimal-intervention approach to allow the terroir to fully express itself. Fermentation is carried out exclusively with indigenous yeasts, ensuring maximum authenticity throughout the winemaking process in the cellar.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir.
