Description
The estate
Voted Best Young Sommelier of France at the age of 21, Hervé Bizeul fell in love with the fairytale landscapes of the majestic Cirque de Vingrau, at the foot of the Pyrenees Orientales, in Roussillon. Restaurateur, writer and passionate for land and vine, Hervé Bizeul founded Domaine du Clos des Fées with his wife in 1997.
Over the years, Domaine du Clos des Fées has become a major name among the finest wine labels in Roussillon. Expressing the singularity of their terroir of origin, these exceptional vintages delight with their intensity and balance while having a great ageing capacity.
The vineyard
A major name among the great Roussillon wines, Domaine du Clos des Fées oversees a 30-hectare vineyard spread across 112 plots on a real mosaic of soils run in a sustainable manner.
The wine
Vieilles vignes 2018 from Domaine du Clos des Fées is a Côtes du Roussillon Villages wine made from vines grown on clay-limestone soil, on hillsides at an average altitude of 250 metres. Ploughing is carried out except on plots where it is not allowed because of the plot age or where goblet pruning is carried out.
Blend
Vieilles vignes 2018 from Domaine du Clos des Fées is the result of a blend of Grenache Noir, Syrah, Lledoner Pelut and Carignan.
