Description
The elegance and richness of an emblematic Grand Cru from Burgundy
The estate
Established since 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in the heart of the prestigious Côte de Nuits, the Domaine Faiveley embodies Burgundian excellence. Led since 2005 by the seventh generation of the family, represented by Erwan and Eve Faiveley, this historic property stands out among the largest and most renowned in Burgundy, with a vineyard extending over more than 120 hectares. The Faiveley family passionately oversees an exceptional heritage, composed of plots located on some of the greatest terroirs classified as Grands Crus and Premiers Crus.
The vineyard
Initially established in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the estate has gradually expanded its influence in the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise. Today, it operates 12 Grands Crus and 25 Premiers Crus, testifying to a deep-rooted presence in the mosaic of Burgundian terroirs. The Clos de Vougeot, whose boundaries date back to the 14th century and the enclosing wall to the 15th, is a mythical 50-hectare plot shared between 82 owners. Domaine Faiveley owns three precious plots there.
Vinification and aging
The harvest is carried out by hand, followed by a short pre-fermentation maceration. Vinification takes place in conical wooden vats, with a maceration of more than three weeks. The pressing, slow and delicate, allows the extraction of juices of great purity. The aging lasts 16 months in French oak barrels, of which 60% are new and 40% have contained a wine, within the 19th-century vaulted cellars of the estate.
Blend
Pinot noir (100 %).
