An Exceptional Savennières White Wine from Domaine Ogereau
The Estate
Established at the end of the 19th century, the Domaine Ogereau thrives on 23.8 hectares in the Anjou Noir, in Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay, along the Loire. Emmanuel Ogereau, representing the fifth family generation, has been running the estate since 2014. The vineyard, certified organic and biodynamic, spans the appellations Anjou, Coteaux du Layon, Quart de Chaume Grand Cru and Savennières, primarily growing Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc on an exceptional geological mosaic.
The Vineyard
Clos le Grand Beaupréau benefits from an exceptional terroir located on the summit of the Epiré hill, at the foot of the Moulin de Beaupréau, the highest point of the Savennières appellation. The vines flourish on friable schist soils and windblown sands 30 to 50 cm deep, with a southwest exposure. This airy terroir, close to the Loire, imparts the wine with its fine texture and characteristic minerality.
Winemaking and Aging
Hand harvesting is followed by whole cluster pressing and light settling. Fermentation and aging of Clos le Grand Beaupréau 2022 take place in two 20 hl vats, a 10 hl stoneware amphora and two 400-liter barrels, one of which is new. Malolactic fermentation is not carried out, thereby preserving the natural freshness of this Savennières wine.
Grape Variety
100% Chenin Blanc.
