Description

Characteristics and tasting advice for Château Romassan Rosé 2025 from Domaines Ott*

Tasting

Appearance

The wine displays a peach hue with delicately coppery highlights, a signature of the elegance typical of Bandol rosés.

Nose

Generous and charming, the bouquet harmoniously blends notes of citrus and passion fruit, offering appealing aromatic intensity from the very first nose.

Palate

Broad and indulgent, the palate is driven by the freshness of mandarin, enhanced by a subtle touch of red Sichuan pepper. The finish, dense and persistent, lingers on nuances of pomelo, delivering remarkable length.

Food and wine pairings

This exceptional rosé pairs perfectly with grilled fish, ceviche-style dishes, or Mediterranean cuisine with saline and citrus notes.

Serving and cellaring

Château Romassan Rosé 2024 is best enjoyed chilled, between 50 and 54°F. It can be enjoyed now, while continuing to gain complexity through around 2027.

The estate

Founded in 1896 by Marcel Ott, an Alsatian agronomist, the Domaines Ott* comprise three Provençal estates: Château de Selle (1912), Clos Mireille (1936), and Château Romassan (1956). Part of Maison Louis Roederer since 2004, they are still managed by Jean-François and Christian Ott. A historic benchmark of excellence in Provence, the estate has been certified organic since 2022. Its iconic bottle, designed in 1932, and its reputation for producing some of the world’s finest rosés contribute to its international renown.

The vineyard

This cuvée comes from a vineyard covering 90 hectares across 8 communes within the Bandol appellation. The marl and limestone soils are particularly well suited to mourvèdre. The terroir is distinguished by two main climate types: the valleys provide more juice and freshness, while the hillside plots and terraced slopes give greater body and structure to the wines of the Sud-Est.

Grape varieties

Mourvèdre, Cinsault, and Grenache.
