A Great Wine from Alto Adige by Elena Walch
The 2013 vintage of Cuvée Kermesse by Elena Walch is a blend of equal parts Petit Verdot, Syrah, Lagrein (a rare red grape variety from northern Italy, typical of the appellation), Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. After 18 months of ageing in French oak barrels, Cuvée Kermesse 2013 expresses all the richness of the terroir from which it was born: the prestigious Vigna “Castel Ringberg” vineyard, located in Alto Adige in north-eastern Italy, close to Lake Kaltern and Kastelaz, near Tramin.
The nose reveals an intense aromatic bouquet marked by notes of ripe black fruit and spice. The very long finish closes on a lovely acidity. Powerful, elegant and harmonious, with silky tannins, the palate reveals delicate toasty and spicy notes. This is a great wine, full of finesse and character.
