Top sommelier crowned on numerous occasions, including a title of best sommelier in England in 1996, Franck Massard decided in 2004 to embark on a new adventure which took him to Spain. The mystical and superb lands of the Priorat region fascinated him. His project began with the acquisition of a plot of land in the village of El Molar, south of Barcelona, in Catalonia. Thus the Franck Massard vineyard was born. Authenticity and nature take on their full meaning through Spanish wines bursting with freshness and lively juices structured by well-defined tannins for an elegant mouthfeel. Franck Massard uses his talent as a winemaker with a rare virtuosity that allows him to reveal the expression of each grape variety, to better bring to the fore the identity of Priorat, the emblematic Spanish wine-growing area.
Bellesa Perfecta 2015 expresses all the authenticity of a great Priorat wine made from 20- to 40-year-old vines located in the village of Poboleda, in the Priorat D.O.Q.
Winemaking and ageing
Hand-picked, the grapes are first sorted in the vineyard before being selected again on a sorting table. As soon as they arrive in the cellar, the grapes are cooled to 6 degrees to allow for a cold maceration over several days before proceeding with extractions by pumping over and punching down.
The nose opens with vegetal notes reminiscent of thyme, before giving way to spicy notes of white pepper and cloves.
The palate delivers an explosion of flavours, with notes of small red fruits and sweet spices. Elegant, the palate combines structure and balance thanks to a beautiful acidity while presenting a persistent length on the finish.
